Ancient Earth Stoneworks was founded in 2013 by Joe Martignetti.
Joe was descended from a long line of Italian stone and brick masons which inspired his start as a brick mason apprentice in 1998 in the state of Massachusetts. Since moving to Maine in 2001, Joe has worked for several well known stone design and build firms until starting his own company.
Joe specializes in creating custom hardscapes with a natural aesthetic. He has a passion for using the ancient stone building techniques of his forebears.
When Joe’s not making things out of stone, he likes to rock… as lead guitarist in the critically acclaimed band Sunrunner. The rest of his time is dedicated to the most important ancient art – fatherhood.
Joe’s passion for stone and creative spirit brought him to co-found another company, Maine Stone Lantern, which makes beautiful lanterns out of granite and stained glass.
Each lantern is unique and hand made in our home state of Maine using local materials.
